The Trinity House, Inc., established in July 2005, is a California Non Profit Organization. We are not aligned with any organization or sect. We assist homeless or at-risk individuals and their children. The mission of The Trinity House, is “to provide transitional housing in San Diego to underserved individuals and families in need, and to coordinate successful re-integration of residents into the community by promoting a positive transformation of their lives.” The Trinity House is an essential part of San Diego’s solution to homelessness - we fill a unique and vital niche by offering a specialized service that focuses on helping clients become self-sufficient.
If there was ever a time when people needed the assistance The Trinity House, provides, it is now as our nation moves toward a third year of a recession economy. So many of our neighbors in San Diego – families who try to make a decent living in professions that once guaranteed dignity and prosperity – are clearly hurting. They are working two or three jobs just to survive. Some, unfortunately, have not been able to navigate through our recession and are now part of San Diego’s homeless population, estimated to number in the tens of thousands. And while thousands of homeless people in San Diego may elect to live on the streets, in wooded or industrial areas, in cars, or abandoned buildings, The Trinity House, does provide a clean, sober, safe, and nurturing transitional shelter for those who elect to abide by our simple behavioral rules and participate in our empowerment programs.
The Trinity House effectively reaches and serves the human casualties of our dismal local economy in a pro-active way that prevents individuals from descending further into more dire circumstances, such as living on the streets or in their car. We have the capacity to serve clients with multiple, complicated service needs and as of July, 2011 The Trinity House assisted nearly 550 adults and 500 children avoid homelessness.
Our goal is to divert homelessness all together and we have accomplished this with nearly 75% of our clients. In the final analysis, our primary results speak loudly – over 72% of those assisted by The Trinity House successfully transition into permanent housing! Is it just shelter and a bed that lead to The Trinity House's remarkable 72% success rate? We think it is far more. Individuals and families residing at The Trinity House regain the dignity of productive lives with a permanent home primarily due to our remarkable and effective programs.
