I came to the Trinity House in 2006 with nowhere to go. I had lost everything in a car accident. I was living paycheck to paycheck, like all single moms do. When I talked to Ms. Evelyn she gave me hope. When I first came to see the house in Chula Vista, I was very unsure of what Transitional living was about. Not only was I unsure but I had two kids at the time to think about, my son was 10 and my daughter was 6. I wanted to make sure they were comfortable and they where. Right when we got there the women in the house greeted us and showed us around. The environment was calm and family oriented.
The Trinty House gave me an opportunity to budget my expenses with a budgeting class, to secure my finances. We attended Church and had step studies to help us get in touch with our Higher Power. We had house meetings to help us to understand each other and work out any differences. We also had parenting classes to help us parents who needed that understanding of what parenting is all about.
Being at The Trinity House, it gave me the love and support I needed at that time to get through what I thought was a rough time, now that I look back it was definitely about giving me a "hand up not a hand out". I have always learned lessons are blessings in disguise and The Trinity House was just that.
Thank you Sister Evelyn and Brother Glen, Founders of The Trinity House for teaching me about finances, parenting and helping me find a God of my understanding, without The Trinity House I don't know where me and my kids would've ended up.
