In 2009 Radio veteran Tayari Howard took to the streets with a vow to sleep outside until he raised $10,000. Dubbed, "Tayari's 10-Grand Homeless Stand", Tayari set up his tent and camped outside in front of the Ikea Mission Valley store. Tayari raised nearly $17,000 in just 7 days!
In 2010 Tayari was at it again! Starting Saturday, October 9th, 2010, Tayari pitched his tent outside at Liberty Station near Starbucks. He slept in the streets for 2 weeks and raised approximately $5K. Tayari's Homeless Stand" was the kick-off to The Trinity House 4th Annual SleepOutSaturday (SOS) to Benefit the Homeless. This 24 hour fund-raising event iwas filled with family entertainment, vendors, auction, opportunity drawing, food, live entertainment, evening movies, children's activities, and much more.
